I Missed the Step. Then I Went for Jim’s

Half asleep. Patio light off. Missed the step. Forearm took the door edge.

First thought was Jim’s — last big bottle, couple pumps, extra at night.

Woke up tender, less wrecked. Two days later it’s a bruise I can live with. Daily life kept going.

Half asleep. Phone in my hand. Patio light off. Stepped out toward the garage, missed the step in the dark, stumbled.

Caught myself. Forearm found the edge of the door instead.

Throb. Immediate.

First thought wasn’t ice. Wasn’t the light switch I should’ve hit. First thought was Jim’s.

I’m down to the last big bottle. Couple pumps on the forearm. Let it sit.

The method I actually use now

Extra at night.

Not a ceremony. A heavier pass before bed so it’s on while you’re horizontal instead of using the arm. I woke up still tender — not that hot, injured, don’t-touch-it feeling. Sore. Functional. Daily life didn’t get cancelled.

Two days later I’m looking at a small bruise. That’s the leftover. Not the whole arm running the house.

I’m not writing a study. I’m writing a dark patio, a door frame, and the jar that was already in reach.

Why that was the first thought

Because this is what the bottle is for in real life.

Not a marble counter. A missed step. CBD + DMSO so it doesn’t just sit on the skin. THC-free. Last big bottle, so you notice when you’re low.

The patio light is still the smarter move. Jim’s is what you grab when you didn’t make the smarter move.

Why Jim Reads the Big DMSO Essays

DMSO is trending again — vessels, circulation, old studies. Jim reads it because the molecule was never just a solvent. Here’s what we take for a cream, and what we leave in the essay.

DMSO is loud again.

Long articles. Circulation. Blood vessels. Old studies pulled out of storage. Jim reads them. He’s not collecting miracles for a label. He’s been watching what happens when this molecule is in a cream people actually use — and the essays keep circling the same idea he built the jar around:

DMSO does not behave like a normal ingredient.

That’s the takeaway worth teaching.

What the literature keeps repeating (without turning us into a hospital)

Researchers didn’t study DMSO because it smells pretty. They studied it because it does a handful of strange, useful things at once:

It crosses barriers.
Most carriers damage the door to get through. DMSO is repeatedly described as moving through tissue and taking other compounds with it — without torching the membrane on the way. That’s the whole reason it’s next to the CBD. Delivery. Not décor.

It’s been poked at for circulation and vessels for a long time.
Not “Jim’s heals arteries.” This: labs have looked at how DMSO relates to platelets, vessel tone, free radicals, and local blood flow. One current essay is stacking that pile and aiming it at strokes and clots. We are not stealing that aim. We are admitting the molecule has a bigger research shadow than “solvent from a paper mill.”

People have used it on the surface for decades.
Barns. Training rooms. Old clinic shelves. Topical DMSO shows up in the historical record next to sore tissue, local irritation, even old combinations aimed at surface-level circulation problems. That’s heritage. It’s not a diagnosis on your jar.

It doesn’t just vanish.
A portion converts toward MSM — another sulfur compound people already talk about for tissue and comfort. Same family. Different chapter.

Jim’s version of that stack is simple: CBD needs a ride. DMSO is the ride. The cream is for the place you can put your hand.

What Jim actually takes from a piece like that

He doesn’t take “cancel the ambulance.”

He takes:

  • This molecule was never boring.

  • Absorption is the job.

  • If people feel a difference where they put it, that tracks with a carrier that doesn’t sit in the lobby.

  • Impressive results on a back, a set of event hands, a harness burn, a travel morning — those are topical stories. Keep them topical.

That’s the gray: we respect the size of the DMSO file. We refuse to pretend a pump bottle is stroke care.

The impressive part of Jim’s product, in his house, has been ordinary and loud at the same time. Somebody sleeps wrong and gets off the lounge. Somebody works 7 to 11 and can still use their hands. Somebody puts a backpack on and walks to a shuttle. That’s not a Substack about saving millions. That’s a jar that showed up.

How to read the big article like an adult

When the headline says vessels and strokes, split it in two.

Pile A — education: DMSO is more than a solvent. Carrier. Old research trail. Free-radical talk. Circulation interest. Why it’s even in a cream.

Pile B — not our product: stroke on the way to the hospital, dissolving DVTs, black limbs pink again, varicose veins gone in days. That’s their essay. If that situation is real, it’s a clinic and a phone call, not Relief 1000.

Jim can be inspired by Pile A and still sell a cream.

The sentence we’re willing to stand on

DMSO is in Jim’s because it helps the cream get past the surface.

The rest of the internet can write novels about blood vessels. We’ll keep teaching the molecule, keep the results in the real rooms we’ve already shown you, and keep the emergency department where it belongs.

Same DMSO they’re yelling about.
Different assignment.
That’s the gray, and we’re staying in it.

Day 3: I Dropped Ed at the Airport Shuttle

Heavy pass of Jim’s on his back. Backpack on. Carry-on on. Walked to the shuttle. Sleep, a meal, a massage, and the jar. I think we did our job.

Just dropped Ed at airport pickup.

Heavy helping of Jim’s on his back before he got out. Not a dab. A real pass. Then he put a backpack on. Then the carry-on. Then he walked himself over to the shuttle spot.

That’s the whole scoreboard.

Day 1 he woke up on the lounge and the hallway was a negotiation. Day 2 he was walking at a 7. Day 3 he loaded his own gear and went to the curb.

What got him there

No movie montage.

Sleep.
A good meal.
An evening massage.
Jim’s Relief 1000 on the back — CBD + DMSO, THC-free, the jar that was already in the house.

We didn’t put him on a plane with a miracle. We put him on his feet with enough mobility to wear the bags and make the shuttle.

I think we did our job. The lounge chair can keep the first night. It doesn’t get the airport.

Day 2: Ed’s Walking. The Clock Is Still Loud.

Yesterday the lounge chair won. Today Ed’s walking — pain at a 7, down from a 9. Evening massage with Jim’s Relief 1000. Flight’s still coming. Gotta get him back in the game.

Day 1 was the lounge chair and a man who could barely negotiate the hallway.

Day 2 he’s walking around.

Not pretty. Not “back in the gym.” Walking. He put the morning at a 7. Yesterday was a 9. That’s the only scoreboard that matters tonight.

Flight still wants him. So the job tonight is simple: keep him moving, keep the back from locking back up, get him closer to travel-ready.

The evening plan

No ice bath theater. No lecture.

Ed gets an evening massage with Jim’s Relief 1000 — medium size. Pure CBD cream. DMSO in the mix so it doesn’t just sit on the surface. THC-free.

Hands on the back. Thin layers. Let it work while he stays in the house and not on that lounge.

Gotta get him back in the game. That’s it.

What Day 2 actually looks like

Day 2 is not a commercial.

It’s a Marine who slept wrong on outdoor furniture, made it through one night, and can now walk the room at a 7 instead of living at a 9. Bathroom trips are not a project anymore. Sitting down is not a negotiation with a referee.

He still has a plane to catch. A 7 still hurts. We are not pretending otherwise.

Jim’s stays out. Medium jar. Enough for another pass tonight and another in the morning if he needs it.

The lounge chair already had its moment. It doesn’t get a sequel.

Ed’s in Town. The Lounge Chair Won the First Round.

Marine buddy. Digital nomad. Asleep on the outdoor lounge. Woke up with a back in agony. Jim’s went on. He made it to the restroom and back to a chair. Flight’s Wednesday. Clock’s ticking.

Ed’s in town.

Marine. Workout buddy. Digital nomad bouncing Bangkok to Tokyo. The kind of guy who treats a long-haul calendar like a gym schedule.

He fell asleep on the outdoor lounge.

Woke up in agony. Back locked. Not “stiff from the flight.” The kind of wrecked where the next five feet look like a negotiation.

I didn’t give a speech. I went and got Jim’s.

What actually happened

He could not casually stroll anywhere. That was the problem. Flight’s Wednesday. Clock’s ticking.

Jim’s on the back. CBD + DMSO. Fast absorption. Deeper than a cream that sits there looking expensive. THC-free. No menthol circus.

Then the only update that mattered:

He could move.

Restroom. Back to a comfortable seat in the house. Not a victory lap. Not “fixed.” Upright. Mobile. Inside.

That’s Day 1 of this visit. The plane is still the boss of the week.

Why this is the story

Because this is how the jar actually gets used.

Not a marble bathroom. A lounge chair that betrayed a Marine. A buddy who has to be on a plane Wednesday. You put the cream where it hurts and you wait to see if he can stand up and walk the hallway.

Ed still has work to do before that flight. Sleep. Easy movement. Another pass of Jim’s. Not heroics.

I’m not writing that Jim’s cleared a back injury for international travel. I’m writing that this morning the lounge chair won, Jim’s got put on, and Ed made it from the chair to the bathroom and back to a seat in the house.

For a guy who was stuck, that was the whole assignment.

Wednesday can panic later. Today he can move.

The Molecule That Can’t Sit Still

Most creams wait at the door. DMSO does not.

It started as a paper-mill byproduct. Now it’s the reason Jim’s CBD cream doesn’t just sit on the skin. DMSO moves through the barrier fast and helps carry CBD with it — rapid absorption, deeper penetration, less “spa lotion that never clocks in.”

Yes, some people notice a faint garlic note. That’s the molecule’s calling card, not a flaw. High-purity DMSO keeps the drama down. After it does the delivery work, part of it can convert to MSM.

Weird origin. Serious delivery.

Jim’s CBD: premium CBD + high-purity DMSO. THC-free. Built for targeted comfort where you apply it — not a menthol show on the surface.

The Molecule That Can’t Sit Still:

Why a Paper-Mill Byproduct Is the Secret Wingman in Jim’s CBD Cream

The Molecule That Can’t Sit Still

Most skincare ingredients behave. They sit on the surface. They smell like a spa. They wait to be invited in.

DMSO does not wait.

Dimethyl sulfoxide — DMSO — is a sulfur compound that started life as a byproduct of making paper. Not a mountain herb. Not a luxury oil. A wood-pulp leftover that chemists noticed could slide through skin with almost rude efficiency. It doesn’t knock. It doesn’t linger at the door. It goes through.

That’s why it ended up in Jim’s CBD cream.

The bouncer problem

Your skin is not a welcome mat. The outer layer is a tight little security system. Most CBD topicals never really get past it. They sit there looking expensive while the good stuff stays on the sidewalk.

DMSO is the friend who knows the back entrance.

It moves through the skin barrier quickly and can carry other compounds with it. In a cream, that means the CBD isn’t just parked on top of the skin. It’s being escorted deeper, faster, instead of hanging around like a guest who never takes off their coat.

That’s the whole point of the pairing:

Strong CBD + DMSO combination that allows for rapid absorption and deeper skin penetration.

Not magic. Chemistry with a personality.

Yes, the garlic thing is real

Let’s not pretend this molecule is polite.

Some people notice a faint garlic-like taste or scent after using DMSO. That’s a known quirk of the compound, not a defect in the jar. Lower-quality DMSO makes it worse. High-purity DMSO — the kind that belongs in a product you put on your body — keeps that drama down.

Think of it as the molecule’s calling card. It got in. It did the job. It left a note.

Then it changes outfits

Here’s the off-the-wall part most brands skip:

After DMSO does its carrier work, a portion of it can convert in the body toMSM — another sulfur compound people already know from joint-and-tissue conversations. Same family. Different job.

So the story isn’t just “solvent + cream.”

It’s:

1. CBD needs a ride.

2. DMSO is the ride.

3. DMSO later shows up as MSM.

That’s why Jim didn’t treat DMSO like a trendy add-on. He treated it like the delivery system.

What this cream is actually trying to do

Jim’s formula is simple on purpose:

- Premium CBD

- High-purity, low-odor DMSO

- THC-free

- No added drugs

- Built for targeted application, not a menthol circus

The goal is not to slap a cooling sensation on the surface and call it a day. The goal is a topical that gets past the first layer and supports comfort where you put it.

Formulated to support comfort at the application site rather than remaining only on the surface.

That’s the difference between a cream that performs and a cream that just smells like it might.

Why this story belongs on the internet

Because “another CBD cream” is boring.

“A paper-mill molecule that sneaks CBD through your skin and sometimes tastes like garlic” is not boring.

DMSO is strange. It is specific. It is the reason this jar doesn’t behave like the ones sitting next to it. People remember the weird true thing. They forget the generic wellness paragraph.

Jim’s CBD didn’t invent sulfur. It just refused to leave the interesting ingredient out of the story.

More Than Pain Relief: The Beauty Potential of Jim's CBD

Discover the beauty potential of Jim’s CBD. Beyond muscle and joint relief, explore how DMSO and MSM may support healthier-looking skin for active women over 40. Whole-body care starts here.

When most people hear "CBD cream," they think about sore muscles, joints, or an active lifestyle.

But at Jim's CBD, we're starting to look at our formula differently.

Could Jim's CBD also have a place in your beauty routine?

We think the possibilities are worth exploring.

DMSO: More Than a Solvent

DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide) is a naturally derived sulfur compound classified as a non-toxic organic solvent. But one of its most interesting properties is its ability to penetrate the skin and help carry other compounds with it.

That's why we call DMSO an "antioxidant carrier."

In our formula, DMSO is designed to help transport broad-spectrum CBD through the skin to the area where you're applying it.

And there's another interesting part of the story.

A portion of DMSO is naturally metabolized by the body into MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), another sulfur-containing compound that has been studied for its potential role in supporting healthy connective tissue and skin.

What Does MSM Have to Do With Beauty?

This is where things get interesting.

Research involving MSM has explored several aspects of skin health. One human study reported improvements in facial wrinkles, skin roughness, firmness, elasticity, and hydration following oral MSM supplementation.

That doesn't prove that applying Jim's CBD produces the same results. But it does raise an interesting question:

Could sulfur-containing compounds have a bigger role in healthy-looking skin than we've traditionally considered?

We think that's worth exploring.

Your Face Isn't the Only Skin Worth Taking Care Of

Beauty doesn't stop at your jawline.

Think about your:

  • Hands

  • Neck and décolletage

  • Elbows and knees

  • Legs

  • Feet

  • Areas exposed to the elements

These parts of your body experience sunlight, weather, exercise, friction, dryness, and everyday wear just like your face does.

That's why some women are beginning to think about topical care as whole-body self-care, rather than limiting their skincare routine to their face.

Jim's CBD can easily become part of that routine.

Apply it where you want to focus your attention. Massage it into the skin. Make it part of your evening ritual.

For the Woman Who Doesn't Sit Still

We're especially interested in the active woman over 40.

The woman who plays pickleball.

Golfs on the weekends.

Works on her feet.

Gardens.

Travels.

Exercises.

Takes care of everyone else.

And isn't interested in slowing down.

Her body deserves attention, too.

We're Not Claiming a Miracle

Let's be clear: Jim's CBD isn't a miracle cream, and we're not claiming it has been clinically proven to erase wrinkles, rebuild collagen, or reverse skin aging.

What we are saying is that the ingredients in our formula have properties and research behind them that make the beauty potential fascinating.

DMSO's ability to penetrate the skin is well documented.

MSM continues to be studied for its relationship to skin health.

And the science surrounding sulfur compounds, oxidative stress, connective tissue, and healthy skin continues to evolve.

We're interested in where that science leads.

Because sometimes the best products come from asking a simple question:

What else could Jim's CBD do?

We're still exploring.

And we're just getting started.
