Indian Summer. Three Days. The Jar After the Shower.

Three festival days on cement and asphalt in the heat. Hips felt it. Shower first, then Jim’s on the lower half. Monday I could still do another day.

Festival weekend in Carpinteria. Indian summer. Hot, long hours, festival food, cement and asphalt under your feet the whole time.

The body felt it all the way to the hips.

Night one I showered first. That matters. Hot water opens things up. Then a layer of Jim’s on the lower half — not a spa routine, a reset. Shower opened the pores. DMSO did the rest of the walking. CBD went with it.

I woke up in pretty good shape. Not “new knees.” Good enough to do it again.

California Avocado Festival, 40th year — Oct. 2–4, 2026, downtown Carpinteria

The method that held

Before the shift: feet and knees.
After the shower, before bed: the lower half again.

That’s the extra-at-night move, used on a festival clock. A little goes a long way. Clean skin. Thin layer. Let the carrier work while you’re horizontal.

Today is Monday. I could do another day. It’s still hot out. That’s the scoreboard.

Free street festival on Linden Avenue, between Carpinteria Avenue and 6th Street. Theme: Peace, Love & Guacamole. Run as a nonprofit; proceeds and grants go to groups including the Carpinteria Education Foundation and FFA. Organizers expected a huge weekend — public estimates ran from the tens of thousands up toward 75,000–80,000.

What this is

Not a heat protocol. Not a hip study. Three days on a hard surface in Indian summer, a jar that was already in the bag, and a body that showed up Monday.

Jim’s is CBD + DMSO so it doesn’t sit on the surface. THC-free. The shower is the setup. The cream is the closer.

Turn the light on. Keep the jar close. Same idea, different weekend.

Three days of music: 60+ bands across four stages (Main, Seal, Grotto, Youth). Names on the bill included Doublewide Kings, Cornerstone, False Puppet, Spencer the Gardener, Redfish, and Ian Cochran on the Grotto stage after the guacamole contest. Alan Parsons judged the guac contest and stayed to watch.
